ABOUT US

Shaun Dale purchased The Old Corner Grill and Bottle Shop in July, 2022, from previous owner of 26 years Don Powers. Shaun, who grew up in Clinton County and graduated from Lock Haven High School, is excited to bring his business expertise to the more than a century old property. Shaun brings a wealth of restaurant experience to the Old Corner. For nearly 5 years he owned and operated a restaurant after moving to Arizona in 1995. Over the next 22 years he expanded his business knowledge through his corporate managerial work. Returning to the Lock Haven area to manage a business project Shaun fell in love with his hometown all over again and decided to make a permanent commitment to the area.
Shaun stresses how important the success of the Old Corner is not only to himself, but to the community. “This is probably one of the oldest bars in the city. A lot of people have great memories from here.”

Historically, before becoming the Old Corner, the building itself actually was much larger. Where a parking lot now stands, another half of the building took up residence as early as 1877. According to previous owner Don Powers, “There was a mirror image of the current building to the left, then there was another piece that looked just like it to the rear where the bottle shop is now.”

Where the bottle shop currently stands was once the city’s fire department which burned down in the 1950s. Before the fire, in 1937, the city used the site as City Hall — holding council meetings there too. The business, which was once a hotel/bar combo, was first mentioned as the Old Corner in 1942 during World War II. Prior to that in the 1920s and 1930s, it was listed as the Lock Haven Bottling Works.
